Child Passenger Safety
Car seats and boosters are one of the easiest ways to keep your child safe and, when installed correctly, car seats can reduce the risk of fatal injury in a crash by 71% for infants and by 54% for toddlers. Unfortunately, many parents install their child seats incorrectly. Among children under 5, an estimated 325 lives were saved in 2017 alone because they were properly buckled, but an additional 46 children could have been saved if every child was properly buckled.
Recalls
- Chicco USA, Inc. (Chicco) is recalling certain MyFit Zip Air Harness and Booster child restraint seats (CRS) with model numbers 07079561970070 and 04079561190070. In certain configurations, the child seat may allow excessive chest movement in a crash. As such, these child seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, "Child Restraint Systems." A child seat that fails to properly restrain a child increases the risk of injury in a crash. The remedy is currently under development. The manufacturer has not provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Chicco's customer service at 1-877-424-4226.
- Columbus Trading-Partners USA, Inc. (CTP) is recalling certain Cybex Aton G, Aton G Base Only, Aton G SensorSafe, Aton G Swivel, Aton G Swivel SensorSafe, Eos and Aton G Swivel Travel System, and Eos and Aton G Travel System child seats. The harness hip anchorage retention hooks may bend, causing the anchor pin to loosen, and the harness strap to detach. A detached harness will not properly restrain a child, increasing the risk of injury. CTP will mail owners a remedy kit and installation instructions, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 4, 2025. Owners may contact CTP customer service at 877-242-5676.
- Evenflo Company, Inc. (Evenflo) is recalling certain child seats and travel systems. Please refer to Evenflo's recall report for specific model numbers. The child seats and travel systems are missing the USA recall registration card. As such, these child seats and travel systems fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, "Child Restraint Systems." A missing recall registration card may result in an unregistered child seat, which can delay recall notification and increase the risk of injury. Evenflo will mail owners a recall registration card, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 1, 2025. Owners may contact Evenflo customer service at 1-800-233-5921.
- Dorel Juvenile Group (Dorel) is recalling certain Safety 1st Comfort Ride 3-in-1, Boost & Go 3-in-1, Boost & Go Essential 3-in-1, and MagicSquad 3-in-1 harness booster child seats. Please refer to Dorel's recall report for specific model numbers. The forward-facing installation label incorrectly states the height range. As such, these child seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, "Child Restraint Systems." An incorrect label may result in an improperly restrained child, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Dorel will mail owners a new label, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Dorel's customer service at 1-877-657-9546 or comfort-ride-recall@djgusa.com.
